Therefore say to them, 'Thus says the LORD of hosts: "Return to Me," says the LORD of hosts, "and I will return to you," says the LORD of hosts.
(Zechariah 1:3 NKJV)
Where am I in my relationship to God? Too often, although I long to always be in God's Presence, I wander off somewhere according to my own thoughts and will, ignoring where God would have me be.
"Return to me" - This simple thought from God expressed in today's scripture is always the desire of God for His children when we have turned our backs to Him to go our own way, according to our own desires instead of following where He is leading us. God only wants us to come back from our wandering to be where He is because He loves us so deeply and longs to be with us always. Only in His presence can He lead us on paths that will cause us to find the True Joy in the Good things that He has prepared for us. Those Good things are only a part of the Joys He has prepared for us if only we would walk where He leads instead of going our own way.
In addition, God also tells us in this scripture - "and I will return to you", God is saying that when we are not in His Presence, when we are on a path of our own choosing and aware of the absence of the Blessing of His Presence, we only need to turn back from our own ways and go to where He is always waiting and wanting to lead us. When we do that we will once again feel His Presence there with us. Because of His Great Love for us, His Presence is always there waiting for us to come back to Him, in fact He says "...I will return to you..." and we will once again be aware that we are walking His Presence.
